Our Horses
A central part to any horseback riding experience is just taking care of our family of horses. All riders in each program are involved with grooming before and after each lesson, assisting with barn clean-up after riding lessons, and occasionally participating in evening chores. Forrestel takes great pride in their family-owned string of 60 lesson horses–our staff and campers devote a large amount of time and energy caring for them–because we know that at Forrestel; happy horses make happy campers
ACE

Ace is a typical Appaloosa gelding – a bit lazy and a bit stubborn but very safe. Ace has a little something to teach every rider so he is used in all lessons from beginners up through our advanced riders. Under his grumpy exterior is a very nice horse that you can’t help but like.

Bailey joined Forrestel in 2011. She ran many times at the local Finger Lakes race track under the name Run Irish Cream quite successfully. She now very much enjoys her job as a camp horse. She is very laid back and will happily jump around our hunt course and XC course.
Biscuit is a wonder pony! She can trot around all day taking care of our beginner riders and then turn around and jump a course with a more advanced rider. She also loves trail rides and cross country jumping.
Blondie has just as much character as he does hair! Blondie is great for any confident rider but mostly loves to jump. Blondie also loves to swim in the pond, jump cross country and make funny faces at campers in the barn!

Bo joined Forrestel in 2011. Straight away he was a huge hit with everyone. He is kind, sweet and cute as can be. He loves to jump!
Bonnie is a very quiet Thoroughbred and is reliable on trails. She is also used for our advanced riders to practice their schooling on the flat & she loves to jump.
Chuckles is a 11hh Welsh Bay pony. He joined us in 2013. He loves attention and has an awesome character. He can do leadline, lungeline lessons, trail rides and with a confident intermediate rider he enjoys jumping courses.

Dixie joined Forrestel in 2015, along with her mother, Rosie. Dixie also enjoys being dressed up and regularly takes part in paint a pony competitions! She also loves to swim at our horse pond!
Eli joined Forrestel in 2010 and was immediately a favorite. He is used by our advanced campers on the flat and has started over fences. Eli drives, trails and loves to swim on our pond!

Elliot joined Forrestel in 2012, and had many successful summers. He is a real sweetie, who loves attention. Due to an injury which occurred while out on winter lease he now used as a trail horse. His favorite thing to do is trail ride through the woods with Anika and Harvey!
Elvis joined Forrestel in 2011. He previously raced as “High on Silver” in his younger days. He enjoys jumping over our hunt course and can get excited on our XC course! He loves attention and being groomed.
Ezmarelda aka Ezzie joined Forrestel in 2013. Previous to joining us on the farm Ezzie was shown extensively on the Hunter circuit. She came from Warwick NY. She spent her first summer at camp as a full course horse. Ezzie was bred June 2013 and had her first foal June 2014, a beautiful colt “Joey” Ezzie was sold in 2017 to a local rider. We still get regular updates and know she has the best home!!

Foxy came to Forrestel on sales consignment but we liked her so much we decided we would like to buy her! She was rescued so we know very little about her history. She is a forward ride but super safe. She will jump small courses with a confident rider and also loves to take a relaxing trail ride.

Grappa is a Canadian mustang and has a thick build that provided him plenty of warmth when he was in the wild. Over the years he has developed into one of our best jumping horses. He still likes to get out in the open though and will carry anyone on a peaceful trail ride.

Herschel has been with the camp for many, many years. He is a very solid horse over fences and therefore is used mostly for our campers that jump. However, he also likes getting out on trails and taking a dip in our horse pond.
We very sadly lost Herschel in November 2017. The old boy is such a miss.

Jango joined Forrestel in November of 2015. He was owned by a kill buyer when we pulled him and brought him back to the farm. Once he settled in and got to know us all, he has soon relaxed and is happy in his new home. Jango then left Forrestel to join a family home rather than a lesson program. We know he will be so happy with his only little person!

Joey was born June 6th at Forrestel. We bred his mother Ezzie during the summer of 2013 after Picking out a stallion by the name of Dallas. Joey looks just like his father, and is as easy to work with just like his moma. He has a great personality, and is fun to work with. We are excited to see what the future holds for our little guy!

Marshall is a big 16.2hh registered Appendix. He joined Forrestel in 2013. Marshall had previous dressage experience and training before joining us, and just after his first summer at Forrestel he learnt to jump! During his 2nd summer at camp, he will be now used by int-advanced riders on the flat and to gain more experience our advanced campers will be jumping him around courses. We wish Mashall the best of luck in his new found love of jumping!
