What time do we arrive on Opening Day?
Arrival time is on Sunday between 1:00 & 2:30 pm. No early birds please.
What time is pickup on Closing Day?
Departures are on Fridays at 4:00pm.
Can we visit the camp before enrolling?
We encourage you to visit our girls camp. There is an annual spring open house and we would be happy to take you on a tour anytime. Please call first to make arrangements.
Where is Forrestel located?
We are located in Medina, New York, equidistantly placed between Buffalo and Rochester, and only an hour from Niagara Falls.
Is transportation provided?
For a fee, we provide transportation to and from Buffalo International Airport. Unaccompanied minors will be met at their gate. Otherwise campers are driven to camp by their family. All families should complete our (262kb PDF)
What is the counselor to camper ratio?
Our overall ratio is 1:4. During the day when our specialists are here the ratio is 1:3.
What are the ages of the counselors?
We have college aged staff who primarily serve as counselors. Our activity specialists range from college age to late 50s.
How many kids attend summer camp each session?
We only register 45 campers per session.
Are most of the campers returning ? Will my child be the only new camper?
We have new and returning campers and are sensitive to their individual situations. We work to promote a friendly and welcoming environment for all.
How many kids stay in a tent? Do the counselors stay in the same tent?
Most tents house 6 campers and 2 counselors. There is always a counselor in each tent.
Can my child request to share a tent with a friend?
We are happy to accommodate tent requests.
Where are the bathrooms?
Our shower house is located at the camp site.
Will my child be going off site for any activities?
There are opportunities to go off the property for paddling,mountain biking, shooting, fishing,and other activities.
How do we pack for summer camp?
Please read our 2019 Packing List. This is a two week packing list; laundry service is available to 2 & 4 week campers (for a fee) if it is needed. Please call if you have questions.
What is the weather like?
The average daytime temperature is between 75 & 80 degrees; night time is between 60-65 degrees.
My child takes medication ? Will it be kept in the cabin?
No. Medication is kept in the infirmary and is dispensed by our Medical health director.
What if there is a medical emergency?
Medina hospital is located only 4 miles from camp.
Can we bring our own horse or tack?
Yes, we are happy to have you bring your horse and tack. Arrangements should be made ahead of time with our riding director.
